Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works boosts steel output

Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works increased their steel output in the second quarter of 2010 by 9 percent, to 2.985m tonnes, compared to 2.732m tonnes in the first quarter of 2010. The production of metal products climbed 7 percent to 2.623m tonnes, and that of cast iron - 4 percent to 2.32m tonnes. Meanwhile, the output of hot rolled metal shrank 7 percent to 112,000 tonnes, but the production of high value-added products increased 24 percent, with their share in the total production structure expanding to 35 percent.
