Severstal enjoys higher sales and production

Severstal has increased its steel production by 28 percent to 8.66m tonnes in the first half of 2010 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the Russian steel producer indicated in a statement today. In the second quarter alone, steel production jumped 11 percent to 4.56m tonnes. Cast iron production surged 36 percent to 6.486m tonnes.
The company hiked rolled steel sales up by 33 percent, to 6.951m tonnes, and coal sales by 35 percent - to 5.627m tonnes. By the same token, gold production rose 16 percent.
