Economic modernization to help overcome crisis

The modernization of national economies will help countries overcome the crisis, chairman of the Russian Audit Chamber Sergei Stepashin announced during a meeting of financial supervisory authorities of members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), RBC TV reported. "A gradual implementation of measures aimed at the modernization of national economies, innovations, equal participation in the decision-making process and the strengthening of cooperation on the global and regional levels will help countries overcome the crisis," the official said.
Meanwhile, deputy chairperson of the Russian State Duma Svetlana Zhurova indicated that in the aftermath of the crisis, the financial supervisory bodies must ensure the transparency of all audit results. "During the crisis, the government's role in any country becomes stronger, and it is precisely during this time that control over expenditures and the transparency of budget spending are especially important," she noted.
