Gazprom and Japanese officials discuss collaboration in gas sector

Deputy chairman of Gazprom's Executive Committee Alexander Ananenkov and Minister for Economic Affairs of the Japanese Embassy in Russia Manabu Miyagawa have discussed the prospects of Russian-Japanese cooperation in the oil and gas sector, the Russian energy holding's media department announced today.
According to Gazprom, the parties paid special attention to cooperation as part of the implementation of the Eastern Gas Program, specifically, to the creation of gas processing and petrochemical plants in Russia's East.
Furthermore, Ananenkov filled Miyagawa in on the progress in the construction of the backbone gas pipeline Sakhalin-Khabarovsk -Vladivostok, which will provide technical capabilities for supplying additional gas volumes and liquefied gas to the Asia-Pacific Region, including Japan.
