MegaFon's net profit goes up in H1

MegaFon's net profit under U.S. GAAP jumped 11.9 percent to RUB 22.501bn (approx. USD 735m) in the first six months of 2010 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the Russian mobile operator announced in a statement today. Similarly, revenue climbed nearly 15 percent to RUB 98.958bn (approx. USD 3.23bn). Gross profit increased 13.4 percent to RUB 77.618bn (approx. USD 2.53bn), and operating profit inched up 4.3 percent to RUB 27.310bn (approx. USD 892m).
The company also indicated that its free cash flow stood at RUB 21.298bn (approx. USD 696m) in the first half of this year. Capital investments reached RUB 17.559bn (approx. USD 573m). Meanwhile, the number of active users of MegaFon's mobile services amounted to 54.11 million people, showing an 18.7-percent rise year-on-year.
